Had a great weekend exploring some new dive sites around Nanaimo. Visibility is clearing up but is still pretty patchy and varies from site to site.
I am excited to take a group of students out from Aspen Grove Elementary out to snorkel with the seal at Snake Island on Wednesday. Kids are fun to take out as they get so excited!

Last weekend was a blast. We went out and dove Dodd narrows and the HMCS Saskatchewan on Friday. The rest of the weekend we spent most of our time diving the Artificial reefs around Snake Island and then did one dive at Clarke rock. Visibility was about 25 feet on the wrecks

Took a family on a tour today. The water conditions out on the Georgia Strait were pretty rough today so we decided to go through Dodd narrows and into the Gulf islands. Seen hundreds of harbour seals, stellar sea lions and the bird life today was amazing. Flocks of merganser ducks numbering into the thousands were floating all over the place. In some areas there were so many ducks, you would have thought you were looking at land, truly amazing sight and very good to see.

Had a wonderful weekend! On Friday I was doing a tour and we came across lots of bald eagles, stellar sealions, california sealions and a pod of about eight transient killer whales.
On Saturday we went out to dive the HMCS Saskatchewan and the vis was excellent. Our next dive was at Dodd narrows and unfortunately the visibility was not so great at this site but everyone was still happy with the dive and will be back to try it again.
Sunday was a fantastic day! I took a group from Victoria out who were here for the Westcoast Shootout. This was a great event organized by Scott Stevenson of Pacific Marine imaging. We went out to the artificial reefs and dove the HMCS Saskatchewan first and the visibility was still as great as it was the day before. Our next dive was going to be Dodd narrows but because of the poor visibility at this site we chose Gabriola bluffs instead. The third dive of the day was at Clarke rock and this turned out to be a fantastic dive as the visibility was awesome. The best part of the dive was that the whole group got to interact with an octopus and got some fabulous shots.
